PUNCH NEEDLE- FINISHED SAMPLERS

FWP originals and other designers whose work portrays that antique look of miniature rug hooking.

I am offering some punch needle samplers that I have done. I love the look of needle punch because they resemble hooked rugs but are worked in a smaller format.

Punch Needle is making a come back from hundreds of years ago. They say that the first punch embroidery was done using the small hollow bones of birds. Today there are many different kinds of needles you can use along with a whole range of threads. I work mostly with hand dyed cotton thread and wool thread.

Benjamin Hare onWooden Horn Book - SOLD

The house is surrounded by banks of snow and drifts 4 feet high so I thought to do something to bring a little bit of spring and gaiety into my days. This was perfect for those snow bound grey days. This is a design "Mr. Cottontail" by Brenda Gervais of Country Stitches that I have needle punched using hand dyed cotton threads on weaver’s cloth. The palette I used were lots of nice primitive colours. The pictures show it a little brighter than it actually is as I wanted you to see the details.

The punch needle itself measures 5.25 x 5” and is set on an aged black wooden hornbook measuring 6.5 x 9.5”. The hornbook is made by a lovely gentleman by the name of Wayne Simms. This wonderful primitive piece can be yours for $60.00 + shipping (aro 7.00-9.00$) to a USA location

Sheep & Ohio Star on Wooden Hornbook

This original piece reflects my love of quilts and wool. I have needle punched a big old primitive sheep on a background of an Ohio Star quilt block and played with the colours as I would have done making a quilt block. I used hand dyed cotton threads that are colourfast. The background was done in various shades of red , green and gold. This was not made as a Christmas piece but would certainly accent any Christmas decor. The small mini rug as I like to call them measures 4-1/2" x 5-1/2".

I have set this original piece on a mustard hornbook that is made the old fashion way by a wonderful gentleman, Wayne Sims from Alabama. He finishes his pieces so they look like they came from the past. This particular one is a flower design and measures 6-1/2" x 10-1/4". There is a hole in the top to hang it or you can just prop it up on a shelf. Piece comes signed and dates as an original.

This wonderfully unique piece can be yours for $65.00 USD plus shipping of $13.00 to a US location.

SORRY SOLD

This pincushion is stuffed with 100% wool and backed with a reproduction red fabric. The piece measures 3-1/2" a 4-1/2" and was tea dyed as the final step.

This is an original design by Lori of Notforgotten Farms. This piece has just been sold - but will take limited qty of orders, which can take up to two weeksd to make.

Look What I Found

Look What I found! Fully Wooly Primitives design that was done to celebrate the coming of Spring. The little peep is all excited to have found his own patchwork egg while the hare admires his find. The brown outer border is initialed and dated 1876 while the inner border was done with rusted orange. The background was punched using an aged white thread and the whole piece was tea dyed. The patchwork eggs pick up the colours of spring!

The finished punch needle is set on a moss green wooden box (9" x 6-1/2 x 2-1/2") that I have put through a 6- step antiquing process. The main colour of the box is a moss green and the inside is done with old parchment paint .The punch needle was done on khaki weaver's cloth and hand dyed cotton threads were used.

Inside the box , nestled on prairie grass and sweet annie are three colourful eggs which have gone through an antiquing process. In addition you will also receive two of our own hand poured goat's milk "Spring Lamb" soaps scented with blackberry and sage. This is a wonderful primitive collection of items which you can add to your decor for $75.00 plus $10.00 shipping to the USA.
